A nice flat plate that is very easy to cut on. The concentric circle base also makes it easy to handle when washing.

Inspired by the roadside diner tableware of 1950s and 60s America, HASAMI’s collection combines functional design with durability, making it perfect for everyday use. The playful, toy-block-like colours invite endless mixing and matching, adding a touch of fun to practicality.

About the Designer

The HASAMI brand crafts Hasami ceramics from the town of the same name in Nagasaki Prefecture. Until recently, Hasami ceramics was relatively unknown, long grouped under the umbrella of the more well-known Imari porcelain of the Arita area of Saga Prefecture.

Hasami ceramics production is characterised by a specialised division of labour where shaping, moulding, glazing, and firing are handled independently. Such involved production systems can lead to communication problems and require large amounts of money and time when developing new products. However, for Hasami ceramics, it has allowed each artisan to hone highly advanced techniques and work more efficiently. The HASAMI brand takes pride in local traditions and breaks down barriers inherent to this model of specialised labour to create practical ceramic tools. HASAMI wants to design products that are a joy to use, day after day, and have an allure beyond words.
