On July 22nd, we are hosting an evening of skate & film together with Roffa Mon Amour, Skateland, Lantarenvenster and Zomer op Zuid.
Skateland is turning into an open-air cinema that welcomes the skate community in Rotterdam to watch an iconic skate film and offer an opportunity for filmmakers to show their work on the big screen.
For the first time at Roffa Mon Amour, you can choose the film you will watch! You just need to check out the selection below and vote here for the film you want to watch on the big screen. You can vote until June 30th. RMA will announce the winning film a few days after. Entrance for the entire evening is only €1; a reservation is required.
Open call: Short skate film
Have you been practising tricks and film styles? This is your chance to show off! We want to support (starting) filmmakers by creating an opportunity to show their work. The film must be centred around skating or skate culture. It must be creative, not a mere representation of people skating.
Send in your 15(+) minute film and get to present it on the big screen before the main screening. The winner will also go home with an SB X Dufarge X Koen Taselaar skate deck.
Interested? Submit your film before June 30th.
Main screening
After the short, we will watch a skate cult classic, and you get to vote on which film will be shown!
Choose from the following options, and vote here.
Paranoid Park (2007) by Gus van Sant: A teenage skateboarder’s life begins to fray after he is involved in an accidental death.
Skate Kitchen (2018) by Crystal Moselle: Follow a teenager skater making friends with a bunch of other skateboarding girls in New York City.
Kids (1995) by Larry Clark: A day in the life of a group of teens as they travel around New York City skating, drinking, smoking and deflowering virgins.
Minding the Gap (2018) Bing Liu: Three young men bond through skateboarding to escape their volatile family life.
Zombie (2014) The Resurrection of Tim Zom by Billy Pols: Tim breaks free from a dark, criminal life by falling in love, embracing the streets and redefining himself as one of the most distinguished Skateboarders.
